Richard Scobey

President, World Cocoa Foundation

Richard Scobey was President of the World Cocoa Foundation from July 2016 to April 2021. As President, Rick lead the strategic development of the organization, served as the primary spokesperson on behalf of member companies, and leads the direction of the cocoa industry on sustainability priorities. He brought more than 30 years of rural development and poverty reduction expertise at the World Bank Group to the Foundation. He has a particularly strong professional connection and commitment to the Africa region, where he has worked for more than 18 years.

Prior to joining WCF, Rick served as the Deputy Director General of the Independent Evaluation Group of the World Bank Group. He previously served as Director for Regional Integration in the Africa Region, Manager for Agriculture and Environment in Africa, and Advisor to the Vice President of the Africa Region at the World Bank Group. In his spare time, Rick contributes to his local community in Eastern Maryland through his work with the Chesapeake Conservancy and Mid-Shore Community Foundation.
