Lead Research Scientist, Climate42

Dr. Alina Gainusa-Bogdan is Climate42’s lead research scientist. She specialises in climate sciences, and holds a PhD from the ‘Laboratoire des sciences du climat et de l’environnement’ in Paris. Her research with Climate42 has been focused on the effects of different aspects of the climate on the production of cocoa in West Africa.
Alina leads the multidisciplinary research team which includes climate monitoring and seasonal predictions over West Africa, agronomic research into the effects of the climate on plant physiology and production as well as other factors that affect production, such as hydric stress, plant resilience to drought, and pests and diseases such as the black pod disease.
