2020 Partnership Meeting
The World Cocoa Foundation’s 2020 Partnership Meeting was held online on Wednesday, November 18 and Thursday, November 19.
The Partnership Meeting was the only global conference dedicated to cocoa sustainability in 2020 and focused on the theme:
Scaling Impact in Disruptive Times
The theme was addressed through four streams:
- Enabling environment: covered the European Union due diligence process, how business can contribute to build back better for sustainability, and winning models for sustainability partnerships.
- Prosperous farmers: with a deep dive into raising farmer’s income, we notably covered opportunities such as Farmer Development Plans and Financial Inclusion.
- Empowered communities: with a strong focus on strategies to fight child labor, we looked at impact investment and best outcomes in community empowerment investments.
- Healthy planet: we started with a keynote on climate action and covered landscape approaches; the link between agroforestry, living income, and climate; and payments for environmental services.
Attendees and speakers included high-level government officials, donors and multilateral organizations, top executives from cocoa and chocolate companies (such as WCF members and the Board of Directors), civil society organizations, subject matter experts, and cocoa producers as we went online to achieve transformative change in the cocoa supply chain through policy dialogue, joint learning, and knowledge sharing.
