In October 2014, WCF announced the cocoa industry’s collective effort to support the fight against Ebola in West Africa. With support from its members, WCF raised more than $800,000 which has since been donated to two non-governmental organizations: Caritas, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
Caritas is working in hard-hit communities by bringing food aid to people in quarantine in Guinea and Liberia, training community mobilizers, coordinating care for Ebola orphans in Sierra Leone, and more.
