
Alejandro María Núñez, Instituto Dominicano de Investigaciones Agropecuarias y Forestales, (Dominican Republic)
Alejandro Núñez’s research focuses on soil quality in agroforestry systesms. During his fellowship, he learned to assess soil quality using physical, chemical and biological indicators. First, he visited cocoa farms in the Talamanca area of Costa Rica and took soil samples. He then learned to prepare samples for analysis, some of which was conducted at CATIE with his participation; other samples were sent to external laboratories. He also learned to use statistical software to analyze results.
