Key Activities:
- Identify sources resistant to frosty pod rot (caused byMoniliophthora roreri) and black pod (caused by Phytophthora palmivora), and generate varieties with resistance, high yields and good quality using conventional breeding techniques.
- Maintain and conserve the International Cacao Collection located at CATIE.
Significance: Superior clones and hybrids resistant to frosty pod rot and/or black pod will be made available to farmers and researchers.
