The Issue:
- The issue of migratory labor and cocoa farming in West Africa is important – both to addressing labor practices and to help improve the overall economic health of the region’s cocoa sector.
- Unfortunately, there is limited knowledge regarding migratory cocoa workers in West Africa – the numbers involved, the composition of the migratory workforce, their needs.

How the World Cocoa Foundation Helps:
- WCF, through a grant from the National Confectioners Association, is sponsoring a UNICEF study which will provide a wealth of information about migratory cocoa labor in Ghana and the needs of their children.
- This study is being conducted with University of Ghana social scientists.
