IFESH Teacher Training Program
Teacher volunteer Pauline Landrigan wanted to make a difference in education, so she signed on for a year-long program to help train teachers in the cocoa sector in Ghana. Pauline taught classes at the St. Joseph’s Teacher Training College in Bechem, Ghana, calling it, “an unbelievably rewarding experience.” Her efforts were so successful that the town’s traditional council offered her 10 acres of land to be used as a youth cooperative.
The Issue:
- Offering quality education encourages cocoa farming families to keep their children in school and strengthens cocoa-farming communities.
- Unfortunately, quality education is scarce in many West African cocoa communities.
